5.5.3 Dielectric Loss Factor

The dielectric losses are very low. The ionic polarisation, which decreases with increasing frequency, is responsible for this. At higher temperatures, the dielectric loss factor, tan increases, especially at low frequencies. Ceramic materials with deliberately high loss factors can also be manufactured.
